How important is the distributor relationship?
The importance of the distributor relationship cannot be overemphasized. Many on-premises laundry managers and facility general managers have made the mistake of undervaluing what a full-service distributor can bring to the table. Buying strictly on lowest price is fraught with risk.
In a recent article for American Laundry News, Mike Fox, sales manager for Alliance Laundry Systems Distribution in Chicago (formerly Washburn Machinery), shared his thoughts on the value that a full-service distributor brings to customers.
The article, titled “Laundries and Distributors: Improving the Working Relationship” provides insights on a variety of topics. When asked about the distributor relationship, Fox said, “Unfortunately, I think laundry managers often confuse dealers with distributors. As a result, they are a bit skeptical because they had a bad experience with a dealer who offers no service and support for the equipment they sell.”
Fox has more than 30 years of industry experience, and has been a sought-after expert, driving solutions for a diverse collection of OPL and vended laundry applications, including hospitality, healthcare, commercial laundries, vended laundries, correctional facilities, fire stations, athletic facilities, schools, manufacturing, multi-housing, and dry-cleaning businesses.
